We continue our journey to reading and writing by working with word families. We have studied words that end with _ike, _ake, _ug, _in, _un, _ig, _ay and _ot.
We will be studying words that end with _ut and _id.
We also continue sight word study with the words have, this, I, can, a, like, my to, the, see, it, look, in, at, on, with, am, and, eat, here, will, me, go, for, you, said, up, are, come, he, want, she, play, run, do, too, we, new, was, ate, out, big, little, help, down, out, be, they, all and is. Words this week are 'but', 'had' and 'get'. Please practice reading these words. We will be adding 3 words each week.
Our district vocabulary words to know are letter, capital letter, lower case letter, author, illustrator, word, rhyme, fact, fantasy and alphabet. Vowel is the word for this week.

We continue to use the calendar activities every day.
We finished our units on shapes, positional words, numbers to 10, fractions, ordinals, patterns, addition, subtraction, numbers to 20, counting to 100, calendar and time.
District vocabulary words are rectangle, circle, number, pattern, sum, difference and equals.
Topic 4 covers the More and Fewer. The children will learn to identify 1 more and 2 more, 1 fewer and 2 fewer.

We will incorporate some weather activities in our calendar wall: comparing and graphing the weather daily and talking about temperature.
We will talk about living and non-living organisms.

We continue our unit on Texas history. The children will learn to identify the bluebonnet as the TX state flower, the pecan tree as the TX state tree and other important synbols, facts and places in our state.
