Welcome Tigers! |
Welcome to the home of the Theiss Tigers! Theiss Elementary School is a pre-kindergarten through fifth grade campus with an enrollment of over 650 students. Theiss Elementary was established in the fall of 1974 and was named after the outstanding Theiss family. We have an excellent instructional program with a variety of learning opportunities available to students. Theiss students perform extremely well on the TAKS tests, and we've enjoyed great success based upon the accountability system. Our reputation is one that we take great tiger pride. We strongly believe we have one of the best schools in the state of Texas. Students enjoy a variety of teachers, some in a departmentalized setting beginning in first grade. Students enjoy learning experiences based upon the needs of each child. We have an E.L.L. program (English Language Learner) that includes children from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. This program makes our school a very unique blend of families from over six countries throughout the world.
Students are involved in art, technology application, music, and physical education in addition to the regular academic setting. Fifth graders enjoy the option to participate in after school choir and orchestra. Leadership opportunities through our closed circuit live morning announcements also present our 5th grade students with learning opportunities that involve character building, and helping and supporting other learners within the Theiss community. Students in 1st through 5th can participate in after school clubs such as the Green Team, Service Organization, Chess Club and the Jogging Club. Destination Imagination with creative problem solving experiences is offered to students in grades 4-5. D.I. participation requires students that are dedicated and serious about this type of competition.

About Gaggle
Gaggle is dedicated to providing safe e-mail accounts for students. The tools provided allow schools to feel secure when giving their students e-mail access. Student accounts are typically set to allow students to send and receive email with other Gaggle account holders on their campus and Klein ISD email addresses. Some school accounts are able to send and receive message to some specific instructional or education web sites, such as the College Board web site.
On the Gaggle Network email messages are filtered for inappropriate text and words. Messages with inappropriate words are automatically re-routed to the teacher's account and are blocked from being sent to the recipient. Gaggle provides online tools for 21st Century learners and provides teachers and students resources for mastering many of the Communication TATEKS.
What tools are available for me to use?
Tools in Gaggle are filtered either electronically and or by Gaggle staff. Inappropriate content will generate blocked messages and or messages from the Gaggle staff to the student.
Email—controlled to be within the district/school, controlled addresses for ingoing or outgoing messages

Messages Board—a place for posted questions to be commented upon or answered. Students can go in at any time and respond. This can be done without other student interaction.
Blogs—Gaggle Blogs are a way that students and educators can interface with the rest of the world. Gaggle Blogs are filtered for inappropriate words and phrases. BOND Information |
Board of Trustees Call for May 10, 2008, Bond Election
The members of the Klein ISD Board of Trustees at their March 4 meeting unanimously called for a bond referendum to be held on May 10. Prior to the vote, a committee of 85 community members, students, and district personnel participated in the 2008 Bond Steering Committee to analyze enrollment projections prepared by Population and Survey Analysts (PASA, full report can be found at ( www.kleinisd.net), assessments of current facilities, and program capacity for each school. The recommendations of the 2008 Bond Steering Committee were submitted to the Klein ISD administration for consideration. After studying the bond recommendations of 2008 Bond Steering Committee and receiving additional input from the community, Superintendent Dr. Jim Cain presented the district's recommendation to the KISD Board of Trustees.
The $646.9 million bond package addresses growth, renovations, technology, and safety and security. These four areas represent elements of a school district that the maintenance and operations budget cannot support. Therefore, a school district uses bond funds for these capital expenses.
You will find information about each of the four areas the bond will address on the district's Web site at www.kleinisd.net. Additionally the Web site will provide information about early voting and May 10 voting locations. The district will hold four forums on April 3 at Klein Oak, on April 7 at Klein High, on April 10 at Klein Forest, and on April 21 at Klein Collins. Each will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the school auditorium. If you need additional information, please call Ms. Linda Burdge at 832-249-4173.
