Today in science class you continued working on your cell drawings. Your drawings should include all of the parts of the cell, what each part does and be in color. Students turned in their cell drawings. Students worked on a cell city project in a group and discussed how parts of a city function just like parts of a cell. Students handed this in. Your homework for tonight is "What is life" It will be graded in class tomorrow.

Today in science class the students started a group project where they are comparing the school to a cell. They are finding parts of the school that have the same job functions as parts of a cell. They will make a poster and hand it in tomorrow. Your homework is "discovering Cells" They will grade it in class tomorrow.

Today in science class we reveiwed what we covered before the break. I had you update your yellow grade sheets and mark off what you had turned in. I allowed you to work on any missing assignments and turn them in for no penalty! Any missing work can be turned in tomorrow for no penalty, after that, late points will be applied!

Today in science class we reviewed the cell wall and cell membrane. We compared the two organelles and discussed their jobs in the cell. We then started an egg-speriment to help us find out if an egg undergoes osmosis. We are going to soak an egg in 5 different liquids and measure it's circumference to determine if liquid is moving into the egg by the process of osmosis. Your homework is to bring your spiral and your own glue stick to class tomorrow.

Today in science class we discussed what an object needs to be considered alive. We looked at different objects to determine if they are living or non living and discussed why. Today in science class we checked on our Egg-Speriments. We removed our Eggs from the vinegar and made observations and recorded them on our data charts. We returned our Eggs to their cups and covered them in water. We finished our discussion of Life and what is required for life. Your homework is to complete the worksheet on Introduction to genetics. Today in science class we started a mini in class project on Mitosis. The students are making a book about Mitosis. They have no homework, but they need to start studying the steps of Mitosis, you never know when a quiz might POP up!

Today we went to the computer lab. We have to satisfy our technolgy requirement and in addition to that the students are reminded of all the great tools that are available to them via the computer. We browed the GIZMOS a bit and I assigned them 1 gizmo assignment that has a quiz with it.

Today in science class we finished our Mitosis books, in the Pre-AP classes we talked about the major grade project that is due on January 25th. Students may have had a few minutes to work on workbook pages which will also be due next week Thursday.
