FIFTH SIX WEEKS - WEEK ONE
Monday March 3rd, 2008
Today in science class we discussed the results from the candle lab. We also reviewed the layers of the atmosphere and talked about air pressure. Your homework is to complete the worksheet on Air Pressure, dress for lab and study the layers of the atmosphere.
Tuesday March 4th, 2008
Today in science class we went to the science lab to conduct an experiment on Air pressure. Our goal was to see if temperature effects air pressure. Your homework is to complete the lab report.
Wednesday March 5th, 2008
TAKS test for 7th and 8th graders, so we must stay quiet. Silent Passing through 5th period, no locker stops. In class we read a story and answered questions about a town in Colorado that has low air pressure and how if effects their every day life. You have no homework.
Thursday March 6th, 2008
Today in science class we reviewed air pressure. We went over a few assignments that we had done earlier and we did some TAKS practice questions. Pre-AP students were given an assignment on Graphing the temperature in the troposphere. All others have no homework.
Friday March 7th, 2008
Today in science class we did a lab on Heat Transfer. You have no homework.

Today in science class we took workbook quizzes over Chapter 13 and we reviewed for tomorrow's major grade test. Your homework is to study for the test.
Wednesday March 12th, 2008
Today in science class we took a major grade test over Chapter 13. After the test we worked on our sixth grade science power points. We have been working on them all year and students will present them at the end of the year for a major grade.

Today in science class we continued to work on our sixth grade science power points. Your homework is to dress for lab and the worksheet on water in the atmosphere.

Today in science class we spent part of the day reviewing what we did before break. We went over the Heat Transfer Lab and the Cloud Lab. We looked at clouds and talked about the ways that a cloud can form and the different types of clouds. Your homework is a worksheet on Heat Transfer. Dress for lab, we will be in lab room 402 tomorrow.
Wednesday March 26th, 2008
Today in science we will be meeting in the science lab room 402. We will be investigating the heating of soil and water. We will be checking to see which heats or cools faster. Your homework is to complete the worksheet on Energy in the atmosphere and Pre-AP Students have the assignment on Radiation in the atmosphere.
Thursday March 27th, 2008
Today in science we reviewed the lab from yesterday. We also went outside (weather permitting) and viewed the clouds. We reviewed for the test tomorrow. Your homework is to study for the test.
Friday March 28th, 2008
Today in science we took a test over chapter 14. After the test you were assigned a debate group. Starting next week you will be debating Hurricanes vs. Tornadoes, which is more dangerous! You have no homework. Have a great weekend.

Today in science class you had a group meeting with your debate team. Your job was to identify the things that will help prove that your storm is the most dangerous and also to predict what the other team might be saying about their storm. Then you spent some time in class researching your topic. You have no homework, but You will do the 5th learning.com lesson in class tomorrow and do more research on your storm. You can work on either your learning.com lesson or your research.

Today in science class you completed your 5th learning.com lesson. After you finished the lesson you researched on your storm. This is the last class day for research. Your homework is to complete the lab report from the Land vs. Water lab. Remember that you must complete the graph and the questions.

Today in science class we collected the Water vs. Land lab report. We also looked at weather equipment and went outside to practice using the weather equipment. Your homework is to complete the Lab Report on Land vs. Water if you didn't already and Study the Weather Equipment.

Today in science class we continued our look at weather equipment. We also investigated the type of air masses that effect the United States and what kind of weather they might bring with them. Your homework is the front and back of the worksheet on Air masses and Storms.
Friday April 4th, 2008
Today in science class we had Debate Day. Each team presented arguments that their storm (Hurricanes or Tornadoes) were the most dangerous type of storm. You have no homework. Also, Today I passed out the assignment on reading a weather map. The Weather Map assignment is due on Friday April 11th.

Monday April 7th, 2008
Today in science we updated the calendars in our Mustang Mate's. We also spent some time in class looking at weather maps and identifying symbols on the map. We completed a worksheet in class on weather symbols. Complete the weather symbol worksheet (front and back) if you did not do it in class. Wear a Jersey tomorrow to cheer on 8th graders who are taking the Math TAKS test tomorrow.

Tuesday April 8th, 2008
- Today in science class we met in room 230, the computer lab. We worked on completing a weather webquest that will teach us to read a weather map and predict what will happen next with the weather. The webquest will be due on Friday, we will be in the lab to work on it again on Friday. Your homework is to study the weather map symbols.

- Today in science class we practiced reading weather maps and we took a quiz over the weather map symbols. Your homework is the worksheet on fronts.

Today in science class we met in the computer lab and took a test over chapter 15 and weather equipment. After the test you continued to work on your sixth grade science powerpoint. Remember that if you are completing the optional major grade, that it is due tomorrow. No late projects will be accepted! Also, tomorrow will be the last day to turn in any missing work for this six weeks.
