This year has been a great year for the Strack PTO. We started off the school year with Mr. Owen coming to Strack as the new principal. The PTO sponsored many events for both the students and the teachers, including the Red Ribbon Party, 1st Semester Honor Roll Party, quarterly teacher breakfasts, the football concession stand, treats for students participating in KASC, and making sure that there were volunteers to help at the school. This could not have been done without the hard work of the PTO Board members.

Once again, the Silent Auction and Fundraiser Dinner were both a huge success. The Strack PTO raised $18,525, between the silent auction and the dinner. A big thank you goes out to Carraba’s, who catered the event. Linda Ramos, Merit Lloret, and Joann Chiu were the PTO Board members responsible for the Fundraiser this year.

The Memory Book is in the printing stage and will be delivered to the students who preordered books on May 30. If a student did not preorder a Memory Book and wishes to buy one, they will be available on a first come, first serve basis, starting on June 2 for $15. Shannon Leyerle has done a great job putting together the Memory Book this year. I think everyone will be extremely pleased at the very “colorful” job Ms. Leyerle did this year.

As in the past, there have been Birthday Breakfasts to celebrate the teacher’s birthdays. The Strack parents helped to make sure that there were always plenty of great breakfast items at each of these events. The teachers have also received treats in there boxes for special occasions and holidays. Margaret Owens did a wonderful job providing treats and food to the teachers and staff at Strack.

The Strack parents have responded with enthusiasm to the numerous calls for volunteers. Bonnie Bereck and Sharon Simon spent countless hours organizing volunteers for the various events at Strack. Shannon Roach helped out with the Silent Auction, the Red Ribbon Party, and kept the notes for what we were supposed to be doing when. Anna Lee Crespy was in charge of the concessions for the football home games and led the committee to identify new officers for next year. Jennifer Young has paid our taxes on time and made sure that we always had money in our account to cover our expenses.

There will be a General Membership Meeting on May 6 at 3:30 pm in the gym to elect PTO Board members for next year. All current Strack PTO members are invited to attend. If you would like to serve on the PTO Board for next year, please attend and add your name to the ballot. The Strack PTO is always looking for people that would like to help out at Strack.
