Great Success! The spring TAKS tests have been completed successfully at Strack. Our students performed magnificently and we are awaiting the results. We have gotten early results for 8th grade reading and math and the scores are encouraging. 97% of Strack 8th graders passed on the first administration of the reading test while 94% passed on the first administration of the math test. These are both wonderful accomplishments! In both cases, students who failed the first administration of the test are given an additional chance to pass it and have their scores count on the campus scorecard, so we anticipate that these scores will improve some more once those results are in. All of the other grade levels, as well as the 8th grade science and social studies tests were administered during the last week in April. Those results will be sent home before the end of May. Our students and teachers have worked hard this year in preparation, so we are expecting great things from their efforts. Thank you parents for all that you do to support your child in their effort on the state mandated tests!

This summer is Renovation Summer at Strack! Beginning on the day after the students leave for the summer, Strack will undergo an extensive facelift around the building. We will be getting an expanded and updated kitchen and cafeteria, new carpet throughout the building, repainted lockers, whiteboards replacing chalkboards, just to name a few things. As a result, Strack summer staff will actually be vacating the building on Friday June 4th. This will be the last day for teachers and will also be the day that administrators, counselors, and a few others pack up to move to their summer home…Haude Elementary School. I have appreciated the willingness of both Sue Schulke, principal at Haude, and Dr. Lorraine Lambert, principal at Benfer, to invite us into their schools for the summer. We have chosen to relocate to Haude because of the fact that Benfer is hosting summer school this summer. Beginning on Monday, June 7th, the Strack office will be relocated to Haude Elementary School. Haude is located at 3111 Louetta Road. Directions from Strack: Go north on Kuykendahl to Louetta and turn right and go 1.8 miles. Haude will be on the right.

The 2009-10 school year is gradually drawing to a close. There are still many exciting events to come this year. We have awards assemblies, memorybooks, the 8th grade end of year party, and many other activities still to come. We are also looking forward to the renovations this summer and are appreciative to the voters of Klein ISD who have made this possible through the passage of the most recent bond package. It has been my pleasure to work with your students this year. It has been a year full of challenges and successes. I am so proud of the success our students have had and am looking forward to a fantastic end of the year at Strack! Thank you for the privilege of getting to work with your child.
