Sharon Kalisek has taught junior high band in the Houston area for the past twenty-two years. She has taught in the Spring School District for fourteen years at Wells and Bammel Middle Schools, and has spent the last six years as Director of Bands at York Junior High in the Conroe Independent School District. She is currently Director of Bands at Krimmel Intermediate which is a brand new middle school in the Klein Independent School District. Her bands have earned consistent Sweepstakes Awards at UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contests, and have received numerous Best in Class Awards at various band festivals. Mrs. Kalisek has a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Houston where she was a student of Eddie Green. In 2005 and 2007, Mrs. Kalisek was nominated for Who’s Who in America’s Teachers. She is an active adjudicator and clinician in Texas, and has presented clinics at Texas Band Master’s Clinic and Convention, The Midwest Clinic and The Music for All Summer Symposium. She is a member of TBA, TMEA, TMAA and Phi Beta Mu. Mrs. Kalisek is married and has twin sons. |

Joel Wren - Associate Director of Bands |

Mr. Joel Wren is beginning his 3rd year of teaching at Krimmel Intermediate this year. He assisted Mrs. Sharon Kalisek in opening the Krimmel Band Department in the 2007-2008 school year.
A magna cum laude graduate of the University of Houston, Mr. Wren holds a Bachelors of Music Education degree. While at the University of Houston, he was principle trombonist of the Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra and Opera Orchestra as well as a member of the 'Spirit of Houston' Marching Band.
Mr. Wren's principle teachers have included: David Brandon and Tom Shine of Duncanville ISD; Eddie Green, Tom Bennett, David Bertman, and John Benzer of the University of Houston.
An active professional trombonist in the Greater Houston area, Mr. Wren is a member of The Houston Professional Musicians' Union, is a charter member of the Houston Slide Oil Company Trombone Quartet, and has performed with the Houston Symphony under Hans Graf.
Mr. Wren's professional band affiliations include Texas Music Educators' Association and Texas Bandmasters' Association.
In his free time, Mr. Wren is an avid backpacker, photographer, and runner.
