Building Community With Deliberate Action |
The beginning of a new year is always important. In his book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families, Stephen Covey states that success begins with "the end in mind". This hold true for relationships, academic success, career planning, money management, etc. We have to know where we want "to go" before we can set goals to make it happen! Guidance lessons this semester will address goal setting for academic success, time management and relationships. Lessons will focus on working smarter, using a plan, to reach desired goals.

No Place for Hate-Cultural Arts |
We are so fortunate to have Donna Granat, PTO Cultural Arts chairperson, who is integrating an art program in different grade levels to expose students to art from different countries. Donna is finishing 5th grade's introduction to African masks, and will begin 4th grade's extension of studying Native American culture by making dream catchers. Our music teachers are also participating by teaching students music from different cultures. Counselor instruction regarding life styles and history of different countries is provided during Eagle Time prior to the art program. |

Relationships - Bank Accounts |
Think about relationships like a bank account with deposits and withdrawls. Guidance lessons will focus for the remainder of the year on the character traits of integrity, responsibility, trust, commitment, respect, and initiative .... and the effect that deposits and withdrawls have on their friendships. |
