Two teams from Schultz competed in the regional Destination Imagination competition on Saturday, February 20, in Humble ISD. Our Breaking News team won 6th place overall. Team members were: S. Gravouia, K. Cobb, K. Cutler, J. Navejas, P. Brandolini, Y. Turk and M. Berger. Coaches were Mrs. Kirsch and Mrs. Boyd

Our DI-BOT team took first place and is headed to the state competition in Dallas in April. Team members are: H. Ochoa, T. Zermeno, C. Seale, J. Davis, M. Dehoyos, J. Blackburn, K. Burrow. Coaches are Mrs. Phillips and Mrs. Krampitz.

We are proud of both of our teams efforts and hard work. You represented Schultz well.

Over forty Schultz Elementary students had the opportunity to participate in a program called “Block Kids” on Saturday, February 6, 2010. This is a national program sponsored by the Houston chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction. The children were given 100 small building blocks along with some extra material. They had 1 hour to build a building of their choice. This program was developed as a fun way to introduce elementary children to the construction industry. The winner received a $50.00 Savings Bond, but every child who participated received a prize. The winner is now eligible for the Regional competition, and the winner of the Regional competition will be eligible for the National competition.
