Letter from the PTO |
Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year! We are so excited about the new year and have already gotten off to a great start! We are looking forward to getting to know new Schultz families and continuing to work hard to support the students, faculty and staff of our great school! We will be working this year to help the school purchase online subscriptions for BrainPop and BrainPop, Jr. Our teachers use these websites in the classroom and our students love to use them at home too! We are always excited to have new volunteers so please look for our volunteer sign up opportunities. We’re looking forward to a wonderful school year!
Don't forget to enroll or re-enroll for our Kroger Neighbor to Neighbor Donation program. Letters with our school's barcode are being sent home in the Tuesday folders on Sept 16th. If you would like to participate and need a letter, extra copies are available in the front office. Kroger donates $1 million annually to enrolled organizations. Schultz will receive a percentage of the $1 million equal to the percentage of the contributions we earn. In other words, the more we use our enrolled KrogerPlus cards, the more donation we receive!! Last year, we received over $1,200 from this progarm!! All you need to do is take the letter with our barcode on it to Kroger and have the cashier scan your card and the barcode. After that, every time you use your card, Kroger will donate a percentage of the eligible purchases to the Neighbor to Neighbor Donation fund. Thanks so much for helping Schultz Elementary every time you use your KrogerPlus card!!

From the PTO |
A HUGE thank you to all the families who came to SchultzFest!!! We had such a great turnout and wonderful time! This was the first PTO fundraiser of the year and, with your help, we raised over $9,000!!! We hope you enjoyed spending the evening with your kids and the Schultz community. The PTO wishes to extend a special thank you to all the teachers and staff who volunteered to work a booth, serve in the food line, be put in jail, paint faces and an extra special thanks to those who sat in the dunking booth. Our teachers and staff are what makes our school such a special place and we appreciate their support of all the PTO actvities! |

2009-2010 PTO Membership Drive |
Thank you to all of the families that participated in our PTO Membership Drive. Total proceeds exceeded $2,000.00 and we were able to meet our goal for this year's budget. The winning classes that will have their date with the principals include:
Kindergarten - Ms. Heaton
1st grade - Ms. Robinson
2nd grade - Ms. Sobin
3rd grade - Ms. Santopolo
4th grade - Ms. Seale
5th grade - Ms. Weeks
The winner of the house competition and the awarded house points was Laurus. A special acknowledgment and thank you to Ms. Seale's class who reached 100% class participation. Way to go Eagle's!!!
There are 2 ways to support the Schultz PTO!
Step 1 is to SUPPORT the PTO by paying your membership fee of $8.00. This money is used to help provide snacks and activities for our Holiday and Valentine's parties and does not obligate you to volunteer or attend any meetings. This year, everyone who pays their $8.00 membership fee will receive a Schultz Elementary car decal!
Step 2 is to VOLUNTEER! If you desire to help in some way at Schultz, there are several volunteer opportunities that are great for working and stay at home parents and grandparents! If you would like to volunteer, please contact Ana Winger at ag.winger@comcast.net. |

Kroger Share Program |
Attention Kroger Shoppers!
Now is the time to enroll (or re-enroll) in the Kroger Neighbor to Neighbor program.
Kroger will donate $1 million annually to enrolled organizations. Schultz will receive a percentage of the $1 million equal to the percentage of the contributions we earn. Last year, thanks to your help, we earned over $1, 200!!
It’s easy as 1…2…3… to enroll:
Step 1: If you shop at Kroger, please take this letter with you and present it to the cashier upon checkout.
Step 2: The cashier will scan the barcode at the bottom of this letter, along with your KrogerPlus Card and you will be enrolled for the current year of the Kroger Neighbor to Neighbor Donation Program. You must re-enroll every school year so, if you enrolled last year, you will need to enroll again this year. You will only have to show this letter one time.
Step 3: Every time you shop at Kroger and use your enrolled KrogerPlus Card, Kroger will contribute a percentage of your eligible purchases to the Neighbor to Neighbor Donation fund.
Anyone can participate in this program so please share this letter with your family and friends. They do not have to have children at Schultz for their purchases to count towards our donation.
If you have any questions about this program or would like more information, please feel free to contact neighbortoneighbor@kroger.com or a Neighbor to Neighbor representative at 866-995-7643.
Thank you for helping Schultz Elementary every time you use your KrogerPlus Card!!
Please click on the download button to print a copy of the letter...this letter has the Schultz Elementary barcode on it.

jCongratulations to Contendo!!! They are the winner of our 1st Box Tops Contest. Your house has earned 100 house points!!!
The PTO would like to thank all of our parents and students for sending in their box tops. We collected 5,980. That's $598.00 for our school! Our next contest will be in January. Start clipping now.
BOXTOPS:
DID YOU KNOW? You can shop at your favorite store on-line and earn money for our school? Clipping Boxtops is just one way to earn money for Schultz. At the Boxtops Marketplace, you can shop at over 60 on-line stores including Barnes & Noble (2.5%), Kohl’s (2%) and Land’s End (3.5%). A portion of every qualifying purchase is donated to our school.
How does it work? First, you must register on-line with Boxtops ( www.boxtops4education.com) and designate a school to support. The next time you get ready to shop, go to the Boxtops website, click on the Marketplace tab at the top of the page and then choose your store. You will then be taken directly to that store’s website. Now, you can start shopping and help raise money for our school! If you have any questions, the Boxtops website has an excellent Frequently Asked Questions section. If you need further assistance, please contact the front office. The Schultz PTO thanks you for your continued support of our school! |

Myth Busters About PTO... |
MYTH BUSTERS ABOUT PTO!
Q: Where does my tax money go?
A: Our tax dollars are used by the Klein ISD to support all of the schools and are used to meet the NEEDS of the district (facilities, personnel, transportation, etc.)
Q: I pay my taxes so why should I support PTO by paying membership or supporting the fundraisers?
A: Schultz PTO uses the money that we raise to help the school with their WANTS. These are items that wouldn't be purchased with school budget funds without PTO's help (i.e. new playground equipment, lending library book update, magazine/online subscriptions).
Q: Why should I join PTO?
A: As a PTO, our mission is to help support the Schultz students, teachers and staff and to enhance the environment of our school. We strive to spend a large part of our annual budget on items that will be used by the teachers to enhance our children's learning IN THE CLASSROOM! We also think it's important to show our teachers that we appreciate them with luncheons, welcome back gifts and teacher appreciation goodies and to contribute to the fun that our kids have at school by providing refreshments for field day and holiday parties!
Q: If I join PTO, will I have to attend meetings or volunteer?
A: ONLY IF YOU WANT TO! Joining PTO will not obligate you to any time commitments or meeting attendance! We always welcome new volunteers and our meetings are open meetings so, if you want to attend or volunteer, you are always welcome!
