Homework Incentive |
HOMEWORK INCENTIVE:
Homework gives students opportunities for independent practice beyond the classroom and for positive parent/child interaction. Schultz wants to encourage this again this year through a special homework incentive. Students who do all their homework each 9 weeks will have their names placed in a drawing to be done at year’s end for a T.V. or an iPod. That means students could have up to 4 entries by year’s end!
Congratulations to our 2006-2007 winners: J. Voelkel and T.Toombs.

BE A HEALTHY BUDDY |
Jamie Criss, who is one of our parents, is also an HEB employee and one of their Education Liaisons. Jamie will be working with our second graders once a month this year in a program sponsored by HEB and endorsed by TEA called, "Be a Healthy Buddy."
In October, Jamie will hold her first assembly, she will discuss healthy eating and will read the book, "The Edible Food Pyramid." Each second grade student will receive a copy of the book and a tote bag with a bottled water and four different kinds of fruit.
In November, the topic will focus on healthy exercise and each student will receive a pedometer!
Later in the year (February), there will be an essay contest. The winner from each second grade class will receive a backpack and the overall winner will receive a backpack and an HEB $25 gift certificate.
