Grant Winners
The 4th grade team of Jill Seale, Katie Steele, Clancy Davis, Laurie Drennen, and Melanie Smith received a $5,000 check for their grant "Work Station Differentation." The Klein Education Foundation awarded the grant which was sponsored by Perdue, Brandon Fielder, Collins, and Mott, L.L.P.

The money will be used to purchase recorded novel sets, reading manipulatives, poetry set, Reader's Theater scripts, digital cameras, and triple beam balances. 4th graders will be able to use all of these materials in centers, called Work Stations, to improve and enrich their reading and math skills.
Grant Winners
The grant writing team of Kathleen Plott, Third Grade teacher, Diane Humphrey, ESL teacher, and Katie Steele, Fourth Grade teacher were successful in the proposal HOME Study and were funded $2,500 from the Klein Education foundation.

First Service Credit Union sponsored this successful grant application. The HOME Study Program, Helping to Open Minds Extensively through Study, will impact students at the school in grades 3-5 during the fall of 2006. This is an expansion of a current parent program being piloted at the school this year. This program will benefit both students and parents of students who work full time during the school day. Students and parents will meet weekly or twice weekly in study group sessions in families' homes in subdivisions in the schools attendance zone.
