The Northampton Chess Club, which started in 1998, is back after a year off. The faculty sponsor for the club is Mr. Don Ridings, who is a P.E. teacher. The club will meet on Monday morning from 7:30 to 8:15 in the gym. The chess club is open to all students from grades 2 thru 5 and experience is not necessary. During the year, players play each other in an attempt to reach the number one position. A tournament is held to crown a club champion in May. There is also a two-man tournament that follows the club tournament. Permission slips may be obtained at the gym from Don Ridings.
