With the help of the third, fourth, and fifth grade classes, Catherine Dunn, a third grade teacher at Nitsch Elementary has recently been awarded a $1200 grant to fund the project Successful Achievement in Literacy. The Educational Foundation Committee of the North Harris County Branch of the American Association of University Women is providing the grant for the purchase of 480 subscriptions to the National Geographic Explorer. These magazines will be used by all third, forth, and fifth grade students to help improve reading skills and increase general knowledge of the world around us. This is the third year that Mrs. Dunn has received the grant to benefit the Nitsch students.

Dianne Lami was selected as the 2006-2007 teacher of the year.
