Writer's Workshop |
Good writer's
-communicates meaning(ideas)
-uses genre knowledge(format)
-structures writing (organizes)
-writes in detail
-gives writing "voice"
-uses conventions
The writer's workshop will include independent writing time, editing, revising, student led conferences with peers and the teacher and publishing. Not all pieces will make it publication.
In most cases only a rubric and explanation of the assignment will be sent home as the student's work will be placed in a portfolio to track progress.
Parents are welcome to set up a conference to review their child's work at any time.

Writer’s Notebook |
The writer’s notebook will be used daily and serves as a basic resource for students’ independent writing. A place to preserve ideas so they will be available for future conversation and writing.
The writer’s notebook is not limited to print. Students may include sketches, photos, diagrams, artifacts, or any other kind of exploratory material that represents the writer’s thinking and can be used in the process of writing.
