Mittelstädt Elementary Teams Did Great At State Competition

The teams of Hit or Myth and Chorific both won first place at regionals and participated in the state-wide competition in Round Rock. The Chorific team won 6th place and the Hit or Myth group came in 7th place. Klein ISD had a large presence at the state competion this year. Destination Imagination is an extra-curricular activity where teams of seven members select one of five challenges. With the guidance, but not the help, from a team manager, the team works together to create an action plan and a presentation. The challenges encourage development of creative problem solving techniques, team work, and creative process over a sustained period of time. Students from fourth and fifth grades comprise the teams.

Wow! I can’t believe how quickly the school year has gone. Our Patriots have been working so hard. On our first TAKS administration in Reading, we had 93 % of our 5th grades pass, and 44% reach commended. In 3rd grade, 97% passed, and 48% reached commended!
I enjoyed my first Mittelstadt Walk-a-thon. The students and teachers had fun during their time on the track. The sno-cones, bubbles and weather all contributed to a perfect day! I’m really looking forward to the Family Picnic (May 9).
My book recommendations for the next month are. . . .
The Road to Paris by Nikki Grimes (grades 3 – 5)
The Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke (Grades 3-5)
A Bad Case of Stripes by David Shannon (all ages)
Knuffle Bunny by Mo Willems (all ages)
Happy reading!
