Metzler teachers recommend that students read each evening. The number of minutes to read is given for each grade level.

Students in Kindergarten should read with someone for 10 minutes each night.

Students in first grade should read for 15 minutes each night.

Students in second grade should read for 20 minutes each night.

Students in third grade should read for 30 minutes each night.

Students in fourth and fifth grade should read for 20 minutes each night.

Parents, we are so fortunate to have a library full of new books to share with your children. We are asking your help in maintaining the condition of these books to help them last for many more years to come. Please help your child find a safe place at home to keep their library book protected from pets, younger children, food and drinks.

Another helpful tip would be to place the book in a plastic bag to transport it to and from school. The plastic bag can be placed inside a backpack or book bag. This will help protect the books from lunchbox leaks and bad weather conditions.
