Is Your Child Kindergarten ready?
When children go to kindergarten, they need certain social skills. Your child should be able to:
Say their names, addresses, and phone numbers.
Express themselves verbally.
Get along with other children.
Be away from parents for several hours.
Share with other children.
Work on their own.
Maintain self-control.
Recognize and respond to authority.
Parental Responsibility-Custody Issues:
Please assist us in the handling of custody related issues. It is the responsibility of the parents to provide
the principal a certified copy of the court order affecting any other person’s right to their children. Should you have any questions,
please call Mrs. Kathy Brown at (832) 484-6280.
Library:
The end of school is close at hand. All students will be asked to return their library books in the next couple of weeks. If your child has outstanding books, you will receive a notice showing what books are out and the price. If you think your child has returned the books, let us know and we will be glad to check the shelves. If the books cannot be found, they will need to be paid for. Students with books still out at the end of the year do not receive their report card. Books may be
returned for a refund, minus a $2.00 processing fee, if found within one year. You may contact the library at (832) 484-6285 or
lviehe@kleinisd.net.

Counselor’s Corner:
SUMMER ACTIVITIES FOR SCHOOL SUCCESS
Even though it is the end of the school year, the next school year will be here before you know it. Learning does not stop when school is out for the summer. In fact, research supports the idea that when children continue to learn at home they tend to be more successful during the next school year. Below are some ways to make summer learning fun!
*Play board games. They help with skills like following directions, paying attention, following rules, taking turns, and getting along with others.
*Get cooking! Following recipes is a fun way to teach measuring, science concepts, nutrition, and life skills. Cooking can help your child's creative side to blossom as well.
*Don't forget to exercise. Pull out the science and health books and teach your child how fitness activities can improve his/her health for lifelong benefits.
*Watch TV. (???) Of course, limit TV time; less than two hours is best. Know what your child is watching. Choose shows that are educational or teach a lesson, and ask your child what he/she learned.
*Enjoy nature. Take up gardening with your child. Try nature walks or bird watching. Go to the lake or the beach.
*Shop 'til you drop! Let you child help with the shopping process...from planning meals, making the list, cutting coupons, going to the grocery store, and handling the money.
Get the picture? Now be creative and come up with your own ideas! I've enjoyed being a part of your child's life this year, and I look forward to seeing him/her---and you---next year. Have a safe and exciting summer!
