During the winter of 2007, five Lemm teachers and Mrs. Kathy Brown, principal, completed the application process for an HP Technology for Teaching Grant. In May, the teachers received a letter of congratulations for being awarded the grant.

The goal of the grant is for students to utilize technology as they grow academically by actively building a garden and using plants for researching and investigating. With the understanding that knowledge is constructed in multiple ways, students are engaged in a variety of activities utilizing authentic tools, resources, experiences, and contexts. Students collaborate, negotiate the development of their research findings, and share their reflections. Students learn by creating.
