My name is Linda Donaldson. I have always had a passion for reading and writing. My idea of relaxation is to read sipping a cup of coffee, snacking on chocolate, and ending this luxurious activity with putting my thoughts in a journal.

My other passion is teaching, which I have been doing for 30 years. I feel very fortunate that I have a career in which I have been able to combine both passions.

The goals that I have for my students are to present the importance and pleasure of reading while instilling the use of higher level thinking strategies as they do their reading. These thinking strategies will improve all areas of comprehension. Another goal I have is to present composition lessons to enhance my students’ skills in written expression with correctness and creativity. Finally, yet an equally important goal is to provide a warm and secure learning atmosphere in my classroom.

I am very proud of my students this year for showing 4th Grade responsibility by entering their homework in their planners and having them signed by their parents.

Homework will include:
Monday: spelling
Tuesday: reading comprehension
Wednesday: language/composition
Thursday: social studies
Sometimes home projects are sent home. Instructions would be sent home for these projects.

I require your student to take the responsibility to write their assignments in their planner.

This is only a guideline of the subjects areas given for homework. At my discretion, we may deviate from it a bit.
