Hello and Welcome Back!

Welcome to Mrs. Balthazar's 6th and 7th grade AVID classes. AVID is an elective class that is dear to my heart. This is the second year for the program in Klein ISD, however I have previous experience teaching it in another district.

AVID is a sixth through twelfth-grade system to prepare students in the academic middle for four-year college eligibility. It has a proven track record in bringing out the best in students, and in closing the achievement gap. AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination.

I can assure you that your child will greatly benefit from being in the AVID class as they are on the road to preparing and completing a college preparatory path. The MISSION of AVID is to ensure that all students:
* will succeed in rigorous curriculum
* Will enter mainstream activities of the school
* Will increase their enrollment in four-year colleges, and
* Will become educated and responsible participants and leaders in a democratic society.
