Hello...

Welcome to Mrs. Balthazar's 6th-grade AVID class. AVID is an elective class that is dear to my heart. This is the first year for the program in Klein ISD, however I have previous experience teaching it in another district.

AVID is a fourth- through twelfth-grade system to prepare students in the academic middle for four-year college eligibility. It has a proven track record in bringing out the best in students, and in closing the achievement gap. AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination.

I can assure you that your child will greatly benefit from being in the AVID class as they are on the road to completing a college preparatory path. The MISSION of AVID is to ensure that all students:
* will succeed in rigorous curriculum
* Will enter mainstream activities of the school
* Will increase their enrollment in four-year colleges, and
* Will become educated and responsible participants and leaders in a democratic society.
