What does the counselor do? |
- Counsels with students individually and/or in groups
- Provides systematic and developmental classroom guidance to all students
- Conducts conference with parents as needed
- Adheres to ethical and legal standards
- Responds to student needs in crisis situations
- Help children develop a better understanding and acceptance of themselves and others
- Help children develop decision making and problem solving skills
- Collaborates with faculty, staff and parents to better meet needs of all students
- Help parents understand their children’s emotions, behaviors, learning styles, and assist them in meeting their child’s needs
- Assist staff, teachers and administrators in understanding and meeting the needs of all students in intellectual, personal, social and emotional areas
- Assist students to become invested in their school success by showing them how school performance relates to future opportunities
