Welcome to Fifth Grade!! My name is Kristen Paterson and I will be your child's Language Arts and Social Studies teacher. For the past four years I have taught fifth grade and enjoy watching the academic growth that takes place. I am from Sacramento, California and am a graduate of Texas A&M University WHOOP!! I look forward to a very successful year and with everyone working together the students will achieve success.

We will be covering alot of information this year so it is important that the students are attentive and ready to work. As you know we will take the Reading TAKS this year and something that I can't stress enough is for the students to be reading 30-40 minutes a night. It can be newspapers, informational magazines, novels, picture books etc. Every student needs to be reading everyday! This practice will help with fluency which in turn helps with comprehension.
