Welcome to Keyboarding! |
First of all, I would like to explain to you a little about the Keyboarding class. Students will learn how to touch type plus basic Microsoft Word functions. By the end of the first six weeks, students will have learned the entire keyboard and should be improving daily on speed and accuracy. At that point we will begin covering different types of business letters and memos as well as other various in class projects. Klein ISD's Acceptable Use Procedure (AUP) will be reviewed with the students. Please feel free to also read the AUP on the Klein web page at www.kleinisd.net Click on the Policies and Procedures link and choose Acceptable Use Procedure.

Keyboarding is a High School Credit class. Your student will receive 1/2 credit upon successful completion of the course. That said, Keyboarding requires a couple extra stipulations. Pay careful attention to Absences. 9 absences per semester is the limit. There will also be a final exam for our class. Students will be fully prepared with reviews and expectations before the exam is administered.
When it is necessary for students to be absent from Keyboarding, they may need to come in before school to make up the missed assignments. Most work is done in class on the computers, therefore it is sometimes more difficult to make work up or catch up when a student falls behind. I will be on campus early most mornings and will allow students to come up then and complete assignments.

Your student's Mustang Mate will play an important role in their success in Keyboarding. Each day, the Mustang Mate Daily Board information must be entered into the correct section of the Mustang Mate. This will be an excellent and easy way for you to keep track of what is going on in our class. I encourage you to ask for your student's Mustang Mate daily to keep yourself updated. The Mustang Mate will also be evaluated for a grade periodically throughout the semester.

Another excellent way to keep up with our class is my website. Here you will find important dates, including test days and current assignments.

Lastly, I must address the issue of Computer Fees. A $5 computer fee must be obtained from each student. You may make a check payable to Hildebrandt Intermediate or send cash with your students. Please have this fee in by the 8th class day.
I am pleased that your student has chosen to enroll in Keyboarding. Typing is a life-long skill that your student will never regret learning.
