The safety and security of our children is our most important focus. We know that you understand and appreciate the concern of the school. We have had some concerns by our parents regarding security, especially during the lunch period. We have re-evaluated some of our practices and are changing some routines.

*Everyone who enters the building during the instructional day, 8:30 am- 3:20 pm, will need to sign in with the secretary and receive a visitor’s badge. There are no exceptions. This will include the lunchtime. The secretary will greet you, ask you to sign in and give you a cafeteria badge.

*If you have a scheduled conference with your child’s teacher, please sign in as you would normally do and wait for the teacher to be called. The teacher will escort you to the classroom for the conference.

*If you do not have a scheduled conference, we will contact the teacher to see if he/she is available to see you. She/he will come to the office to see you or ask the secretary to take your name and you will be called to schedule a conference. Teachers are not always available for a drop-in conference. Please call ahead if you can.

*Early dismissals will not be taken after 2:45 in the afternoon.

*Parents of students in grades 1-5 will need to wait OUTSIDE the cafeteria in the afternoon for pick-up. Only PreK and Kindergarten parents may enter the cafeteria to pick up their children.

*No child will be allowed to cross the street to meet a parent waiting in a car. There are no exceptions. Parents must cross the street to escort their child.

*The doors to the instructional area will be closed during the school day. All visitors will be escorted to their designated area.

We have worked with the Klein Police Department to develop a travel lane, bus lanes, carpool lanes, daycare lanes, and parking area that will be the safest for your child. The carpool line is on the side of the building. There is a “NO LEFT TURN” sign to avoid cutting in the line in front of other cars. Please go to the end of the line. The carpool line is a single car lane. The busses arrive and depart in front of the building. If you choose to pick up or drop off your child in front of the building, park your car and walk with your child to the front of the school. All students who travel by carpool will be dismissed from school in the cafeteria. We will not allow any student to cross the front crosswalk without parental assistance. Daycare vans pull into the front of the parking lot.
We ask that you respect our efforts to keep each child safe by following our traffic patterns and guidelines.
