Klein Intermediate's Dress Code
Klein intermediate will continue to have a standardized dress policy for all students during the school year. Our dress policy is as follows:

TOPS SHOULD BE:

· solid colors - red, white, or black
· polo style - short or long sleeves
· tucked in at the waist with the belt visible
· undershirts must be solid white (no print will be permitted)

TOPS SHOULD NOT:

· have any label, logo, or design anywhere
· be fitted
· have any embroidery, decorative stiching, or colored inserts

BOTTOMS SHOULD BE:

· slacks or shorts (at least mid-thigh length) for boys & girls with a belt
· in addition, skirts, capri pants, or jumpers (at least mid-thigh length) for girls
· khaki (light tan) or blue
· made primarily of cotton
· Fit snugly at the waist. Sagging will not be tolerated.

BOTTOMS SHOULD NOT:

· be the color or style of jeans
· be knit, stretch, spandex, or nylon material
· be styled like athletic-wear such as sweatpants, warm-ups, jogging suits, or windsuits
· be overly baggy or loose
· have any label, logo, or design anywhere
· have any embroidery, decorative stitching, or colored inserts
· no bell bottoms or hip-huggers

BELTS SHOULD:

· be worn at all times
· be one solid color – black or brown
· have a standard buckle

BELTS SHOULD NOT:

· be decorative
· No ribbons, scarves or string/rope of any sort may be used as a belt
· have an ornate buckle (ex: name plates)

SPIRIT DAY (FRIDAY)

School spirit-shirts (sold through the school) and blue jeans may be worn on Friday with shirt tucked in and belted. Jeans must be blue. Jeans in colors other than blue or with embroidery or decorative stitching are not permitted.

MISCELLANEOUS
Necklaces/chains may be worn as long as they do not pass the plane of the armpit. Large/ ornate charms, nametags, medallions, etc., may not be worn. No student will wear exposed rings, studs, or other jewelry associated with body piercing. Students may, however, wear earrings or ear studs.

Shoes of appropriate footwear are required. Shower type flip-flop sandals may not be worn. Coats of any style/color may be worn to and from school and should be placed in locker. If your child needs to wear a sweater during the day at school, it must be a red klein intermediate sweatshirt, a plain red sweatshirt (no zippers, pockets or hoods), or a red sweater from the uniform store. The sweatshirts will be for sale at klein intermediate school at the beginning of the year. Sweatshirts may not be worn around the waist at any time.


Students will be expected to be in standardized dress at all times; those who do not comply with the board-adopted dress code policy will be subject to the consequences of a Level I offense as stated in the Klein student handbooks. Students will not be permitted to attend classes wearing inappropriate clothing. Level I offenses cannot be appealed beyond the campus principal.

If, for some reason inappropriate clothing goes unnoticed, please do not assume that item of clothing is acceptable again.
