KISD Promotion/Retention Requirements
To be promoted in grades 6-8, a student must attain an average of at least 70 in all core academic areas: language arts (including reading improvement if required), mathematics (including mathematics improvement if required), science, and social studies.

Students will be required to pass both science and social studies, in addition to all language arts and mathematics courses. For more information, please see page 7 in the KISD Intermediate School Handbook. All students received a copy on the first day of school or when they enrolled.

Kleb Counseling Staff
Kleb counselors are assigned to students by the first letter of their legal last name.

Academic Test Days
In order to prevent students from having every test on the same day, the following testing schedule has been established. This does not apply to daily quizzes or "pop" tests.


  • Monday: social studies/mathematics

  • Tuesday: English/science

  • Wednesday: all courses and subjects not otherwise listed /social studies

  • Thursday: mathematics/English

  • Friday: science/all courses and subjects not otherwise listed


  • School Supplies
    These vary by department and grade level. Lists for the supplies required for the four core content areas (English/Language Arts, math, science, and social studies) are posted below. Additional supplies may be required by individual teachers and electives courses. any consumable supplies that are used up during the year must be replaced by the parent or student.
