Keyboarding Syllabus
Mrs. Berry
2007/2008

There is a $3.00 fee, set by the district, to help cover the cost of running a computer lab.

Since Keyboarding is for 1/2 of a high school credit, a comprehensive final exam is mandatory. The final exam will be given at the end of the semester.

The semester grade for Keyboarding is calculated as:
1st six-weeks = 28%
2nd six-weeks = 28%
3rd six-weeks = 28%
Final exam = 16%

Our Course Objectives are:
(1) Learn Basic Keyboarding Skills
(2) Work on Speed and Accuracy
(3) Learn Formatting Skills in Microsoft WORD, such as how to format letters, memorandums, reports, outlines, and tables

Supplies:
The only supply that the student needs to bring every day is a pen (blue or black) or pencil. All other supplies are kept in the classroom.

Grading Scales:

1st/2nd six-weeks:
30% Tests
30% Timed-Writings
20% Daily Work
20% Technique

3rd six-weeks:
40% Daily Work
30% Tests
30% Timed-Writings

Extra Keyboarding Time/Makeup Work:
Students may come in after school any day except Friday (unless I have a meeting). If after-school is not possible, morning times can be arranged individually. Students are not allowed in the hallways before school without a pass, so don’t forget to get one from me the day before you plan to come.
