Supplies |
You will need a spiral, pocket folder, pencils, a red checking pen or pencil and a pencil bag. You will keep all your notes and your homework in your spiral. Bring your supplies with you every day to class.
Homework: |
There will be a homework assignment almost every day. Write all assignments in your Mustang Mate. You are responsible for bringing your completed homework to class each day at the beginning of class. It must be complete to receive full credit (25 points). If it is not complete, you may turn it in the next day for late credit (15 points). Homework more than 1 day late may not receive credit. If you are absent, you must make up all missed assignments. Check the website ( classroom.kleinisd.net/webs/jsolomon) for a complete list of assignments. You can find the worksheets in the file crate of past worksheets. |

Daily work: |
Each class begins with a warm-up. While you are working on the warm-up, I will check your homework. Periodically, I will take up the warm-ups and grade them for completeness. If you are absent, you must still do the warm-up. There is a spiral with all the warm-ups in it. Locate it and complete all missing warm-ups. These warm-ups are a great way to review for tests.
Tests |
The test days for Math are Wednesday and Friday. Because tests count 60% of your grade, it is important that you are well prepared for each test. Do not wait until the night before the test to begin to study. Keep up with your assignments, complete your warm-ups each day, and come in for extra help when you are having difficulty. Remember--we are a team! |

Grading |
The grading matrix is as follows: Tests-60%, daily work (quizzes and graded assignments) 30%, and homework 10%. Keep your grade sheet updated in your Mustang Mate so there are no surprises. Progress reports will be given during the 4th week of every six weeks grading period.
Absences/Make-up work |
According to the student handbook (page ) "It is the responsibility of the student to request and make-up all work missed when absent. The student will have the same number of days to complete the assignment and the days he was absent. Make-up work not completed in the scheduled time will result in "0's" on those assignments." |

Math Contests |
There are several math contests offered during the school year. They are usually held on Saturday mornings at local high schools. Math contests are a great opportunity for you to compete against other students on your math level, as well as to challenge yourself to the max. I encourage you to attend, and will offer extra credit for participation.

Extra help |
If you are having trouble and need extra help, please see me to make an appointment to come in for help. Be sure, however, that you do your part and keep that appointment. A pass will be necessary to enter the building before school. A note from parents will not get you in the building. After the third week of school, tutoring will be available in the math hall befoe school on Tuesday and Thursday. See me for details. |
