Our children are our future!
New!!! Math Puzzles with Tiles
We're building Math puzzles over the summer and would appreciate your input. Do you like the puzzles and did you find any errors? You must have PowerPoint and save the file to your computer in order to play. Your job is to figure out where the yellow tiles go. Some puzzles have more than one solution. Go to the "Math Digit Tiles" link. Rather than use "view show", simply move from slide to slide and give it a whirl.
Summer is here!
Reading Fluency and Comprehension Many parents take advantage of the summer months to strengthen their child's academic skills. Each child has recorded a "fluency" rate (the number of words per minute they can read) and identified a goal for September. To assist in their endeavor they have been provided a summer reading list and log. Parents can help by being a role model for reading and by checking out the below link. There you will find a schedule for when our school library will be open, during the summer. You may also print a new copy of 4th grade reading list, there. classroom.kleinisd.net/webs/mitlibrary/summer_reading_lists.htm Please remind children to read daily so they may experience the success of setting a goal and following through on the strategies needed to achieve. All students will be assessed on their fluency in September. Don't miss this opportunity to show them their "power."

CompassLearning Odyssey will continue to be available to all students through September. Aside from the Math which we have focused on, there are many other areas of interest. Check it out. Log in is:

StudyIsland.com is another program we dabbled in early in the year. This is a TAKS math practice program that will continue to be available throughout the summer. The students log in using their first and last names, the password is their student ID.

Math Workbook Each child in our class was given their DCR Math workbook to bring home for the summer. The sequencing of the book provided little opportunity, until now. It would be of great benefit for each of the children to make a routine of completing one or two of the pages each day. This will keep their skills intact, for the upcoming academic year.

Math facts are essential not only to solving problems but also in understanding the problems and checking if answers are correct. Use the Math Facts Flashcard page to strengthen your skills. Math facts worksheets can be found on the Math Skills link to the left.

Thank you. It has been both a privilege and blessing to have had the opportunity to guide your children, this year. Thank you for sharing your most precious treasures with both Mrs. Dougall and me.
Sincerely,
Jean McGrath
