Heartfelt Thanks - Coins for Calls |
From February 3 – February 13 Krahn Kids collected “COINS for CALLS” so AT (American Troops) could phone home. The children collected over $600 which was sent to the USO to buy phone cards that were given to American Troops overseas so that they could phone home. The children also created Valentine Bookmarks and Valentines which were sent to the overseas soldiers. Krahn received a thank you letter from the 40th Air Expeditionary Group thanking us for showing support to the troops. With that letter Krahn also received a flag and a certificate indicating that the flag was flown over the skies in the Middle East a “Show of Force” during Operation Enduring Freedom on February 15, 2004. The flag was flown in a B1B Lancer with a payload of 16 Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAMs). The children were very excited when they received the flag and the thanks for all of the Valentines and well wishes.
The picture is Ms. Blanchard’s 2nd Grade Class holding the flag, the certificate and the thank you letter. Ms. Blanchard’s brother is serving America.

Freedom Week Celebration |
Krahn ended Freedom Week, November 7-11, 2005 with a School Wide Flag Ceremony. Other invited guests included Veternas and Active Service People. The 5th Grade Boy Scouts presented the flag. A group of 5th Graders recited a poem and we all sang "It's a Grand Old Flag" Krahn also hosted a luncheon where Veterans and Active Service personnel enjoyed a meal and good conversation with the children. The 4th and 5th Grade PAC (Planning and Action Crew) presented a short "Thank You" program for all who came. The visitors also spent some time with classes talking about their experience serving their country. An U.S. Army recruiter talked with the children about his on-going service. It was fun and inspirational. |
