Welcome to Language Arts!
Hildebrandt students will enjoy a myriad of reading and writing activities in their Language Arts classes this year. All grade levels will explore different types of writing, both formal and informal in nature. They will explore writing poetry, short stories, persuasive letters, opinion papers, or personal narratives, for example. Technology will also aid in the improvement of writing skills through working in our computer labs and in individual classrooms.

Hildebrandt has always been known as a school of readers, and this year will be no exception. In class, students will enjoy various reading selections, both fiction and nonfiction, under the guidance of their teacher. Students will also be able to choose their own books to read for enjoyment, in addition to those read in class. With a library stocked with 24,000 volumes, our students have a vast selection of reading materials to enjoy.
Testing and Assignments:
The TAKS Reading Test for 6th, 7th grade will be given on Wedneday,Apr.30,2008. The 8th grade TAKS Reading Test will be given on Tuesday, March 4, 2008.

The TAKS Writing Test for 7th grade will be given on Tuesday and Thursday for the 2007-2008 school year.

Major test days for Language Arts and Reading classes are Tuesday and Thursday for the 2207-2008 school year.

Students will have class assignments almost daily. The assignments may include practice exercises from their textbook, assigned reading from a class novel, working on compositions, or studying for a quiz or test. All assignments are designed to help students review daily lessons, practice new skills, or review previously-learned skills. Students are required to complete all class assignments. These are checked by the teacher and become a part of the class grade. Occasionally students may be assigned different types of projects that will require more than one day to complete.
