• Please call the school if your child will be absent or late to school.

I look forward to serving you and your student this school year. Please follow the guidelines below to assure your child’s correct attendance records. Please check into the main office for a visitor badge before coming to the Attendance Office.
You must come to the Attendance Office to sign your student out. A photo ID will be required prior to your student being released.
Student Absences:
When your child is absent, please call the attendance line or email me by 10:00 a.m. Please remember to leave your child’s name, (spell the first and last name) and grade and approximate length of time and the reason why your child will be absent.
Early Dismissals:
If your child needs an early dismissal, please send a note with your child to the attendance office before 1st period. We must have written permission of the parent or guardian who signed the enrollment card before a student can leave campus with any person other than the parent or guardian. Any one picking up a student must be 18 or older with valid, current picture ID. For emergency dismissals call the attendance office.
Doctor’s note procedures:
It is to the student’s advantage to request notes from physicians when they are absent from school due to a doctor’s appointment or when they are under a doctor’s care. The student is responsible for presenting the note to the attendance office upon returning to school.

• The note must be an original and must not be altered in any way.
• The note must be on the physician’s letterhead or a notepad that includes the address and phone number of the physician’s office.
• The note must have the student’s name and the exact dates that the student was seen/under their care.
• The note must be presented to the attendance office immediately upon arriving to school.
• The student has 5 school days after the date of the absence to bring in the Drs note.

It is not necessary for a student to have a note from a doctor each time he/she is ill. However, parent notification is required. Please send a note the attendance office upon your students return to school if you did not already call or email.
Tardies:
If your student arrives to school after 9:03 in the morning they must check into the attendance office to receive a pass to class. They are considered absent to first period after 9:18. After this time, your student must have a note from the parent, Dr’s note or the attendance office should have receive a call from you explaining why he/she are late. Students who miss 15 minutes of a class or more are marked absent.
Excessive Absences:
The state compulsory attendance law allows for legal action, if necessary, for excessive absences. If the number of absences exceeds 18 in any school year (9 days per semester) one of the following will be required in order to receive academic credit unless waived by the attendance committee.

• Illness of the student as verified by a doctor’s written statement showing the dates of absence.
• A parent’s written request for a homebound teacher.
• Extenuating circumstances approved by the campus attendance committee consisting of a principal and two classroom teachers.
