5th Grade Transition Day- May 23
Informational and interesting sessions are being planned for this day. Your child will participate in a school day schedule which will be broken down into periods. PE/Music will be scheduled in their day and lunch time will remain the same. We will have 6th grade counselors from Wunderlich leading an open question and answer period about what to expect in middle school. Other periods will include topics such as peer pressure, bullying and how to open a combination lock. Please send your 5th grader to school wearing the Wunderlich colors-Navy, Maroon,and/or tan.
Thank You Parents and Community Workers-Career Day 2013
Thank you so much for volunteering your time to discuss your career with the students at Greenwood Forest Elementary. The goal of Career Day was not only to inform our students of the various careers available, but also to allow them the opportunity to interact with experienced professionals. Your commitment to help young students prepare for the world of work was greatly appreciated. We hope that this special day was a good experience for you.
Safe and Drug Free Prevention Survey
As we prepare to close out another school year in Klein, it’s survey time again! The survey title is "Drug Free and Bully Prevention Survey". The survey is important because it demonstrates the effectiveness of the programs we are implementing and supplies us with data for Klein's annual report. This is for parents and students.

Once each person has completed the survey and pushed the Submit button, we can retrieve the data. The information must be completed online by Friday, May 17th.

Thank you for your help in evaluating and assessing these programs as they currently exist in Klein ISD.

Greenwood Forest Elementary has celebrated Red Ribbon Week, Bully Free Week, Stand Up Day (5th), Stand4Change Day, Peace Day, The Ronald McDonald Friendship Adventure, Mix-It-Up at lunch and more this year.

No Place For Hate- 2013
Greenwood Forest Elementary School has earned the No Place For Hate recognition for the 2012-13 school year. Please take a look at our banners when you visit the cafeteria.
2012-13 "Stand tall, Speak up, Be the ONE."
The Greenwood Forest counseling theme for this school year has been "Stand Tall, Speak up, Be the ONE." The theme is based on the book "One,"by Kathryn Otashi.Blue is a quiet color. Red is a hothead. Red likes to pick on blue. Yellow, green, purple, and orange don't like what they see, but what can they do? When no one takes a stand, things get out of hand until "1" comes along and shows all the colors how to stand up and count!

Diversity and tolerance are important concepts for students to learn and understand. Other suggested books to read with your children are, "The Crayon Box that Talked," "Have You Filled a Bucket Today?" and "Heartprints."

Elementary School Counseling
During elementary school, students develop attitudes about school, self, and peers that shape their educational experience. In addition, they learn values and critical skills that may stay with them for a lifetime. Elementary school counseling services contribute to the personal growth, educational development, and emotional well being of our students.
