Elementary School Counseling |
During elementary school, students develop attitudes about school, self, and peers that shape their educational experience. In addition, they learn values and critical skills that may stay with them for a lifetime. Elementary school counseling services can contribute to the personal growth, educational development, and emotional well being of our students.

Winter Backpack Give-Away |
Greenwood Forest faculty and staff members collected backpacks, school supplies, books, toys, and personal items throughout the fall semester. A drawing was held to choose families to receive new backpacks. We gave away 45 stuffed backpacks to lucky recipients. It was a joy to see the smiles on so many happy faces!
The Backpack Project is an annual event at Greenwood Forest.
Thank you to all staff members for their generous donations.

Second Step |
Second Step is a curriculum designed to reduce impulsive and aggressive behavior in children and helps to increase their level of social skills.
The approach of Second Step is to develop skills in empathy, impulse control and anger management.
The classroom teacher is the primary presenter, with the school counselor playing a supporting role. Teachers facilitate a transfer of learning throughout the day. The curriculum sets norms for classroom and playground behavior.
An Overview Video is available for parent checkout in the counseling office. Ask to borrow "A Family Guide to Second Step: Parenting Strategies for a Safer Tomorrow."
