This is Mrs. Bevan’s third year as principal at Epps Island. Mrs. Bevan worked in Greenwich, Connecticut as an assistant principal before coming to Epps Island. Prior to that, she taught second, third and fourth grade for 10 years. Mrs. Bevan attended Boston University where she received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She then went on to get her Master’s degree in Special Education from Fairfield University and her Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Educational Leadership from the University of Connecticut. What Mrs. Bevan likes most about Epps Island is the wonderful community of parents, teachers and students working to together to make a positive difference.

Greetings to all at the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year. I can hardly believe I am beginning my fourth year as a member of the Epps Island family in the role of assistant principal. The past three years have flown by! Epps Island is a wonderful community with caring, enthusiastic, and hard-working teachers, students, and parents. I am proud to be a part of the family. We are all looking forward to an exciting year filled with new experiences and lots of student-centered learning.

Here's just a little bit about me. I grew up in the Spring area and graduated from Spring High School. I then attended UT Austin (hook 'em horns) and taught in Austin for three years in bilingual classrooms. For 14 years I taught in Fairfax Co., VA in their partial Spanish Immersion program, teaching math, science, and health entirely in Spanish.

My husband, Joselu, and I moved back to Klein in 2005. Our amazing daughter, Gabi, was born in 2006. I taught at Ehrhardt Elementary for a few years in general and bilingual classrooms and received my master’s degree in administration from Sam Houston State University before becoming a member of the Epps Island family in 2009.

Again, I am glad to have the opportunity to work with our students, teachers, and parents and am excited to embark on the adventure of a new school year. Let’s get it started!

Greetings Epps Island faculty, staff, students and parents! My name is Shawn Nickerson, and I am honored and excited to serve as the new assistant principal at Epps Island. I would just like to share a little bit about me. I have worked as an Instructional Specialist for the district and as the Assessment Coordinator for K-12 in Curriculum and Instruction before coming to Epps Island. Prior to that, I taught grades 6-8 English Language Arts for 5 years in Houston ISD. I am a proud graduate of the University of Houston. What I am looking forward to the most about Epps Island is the opportunity to work closely with students, teachers and parents to make positive differences in their lives.
