"I have been teaching for 23 years. The last eight of those years I have worked with children throughout the building in reading. It is a joy to be able to teach the children and watch how they grow, not only physically, but also academically."

A solid education opens doors to innumerable opportunities. I believe that every child has the right to receive a solid education, and for 17 years I have had the privilege of helping children obtain that goal. Students who can read critically can succeed.

In kindergarten, I see them learning the alphabet and the sounds of the letters . In first grade, I can see the smile on a child's face as he takes those letters and sounds to form words and then puts those words into sentences.

In grades two through five, I see the children reading stories, chapter books, and then novels. At each grade level, they are learning all those strategies that will help them to become a better readers and writers.
