As a nurse assistant, I make sure the students are healthy and feel good to be able to learn without distractions due to health. In our clinic, we make sure students are given medications, screen them for hearing and vision and help them with the other medical needs they may have. Most of all, I am there as a caring hand, and no matter what, to let them know they will be fine. My job is critical, but rewarding, because it is wonderful to see them well, whether it’s physically or emotionally.

The Klein ISD district provides Immunization Information

A child must go home if his or her temperature exceeds 100.4 degrees. The child must stay home for 24 hours after his temperature returns to normal 98.6 degrees.
A child may not ride the school bus with a fever over 100.3 degrees.
Keep the child home if he or she is vomiting, having diarrhea or a fever during the night or in the morning before school.

Every school year children in Pre-K, K, 1,3 and 5th grades and those new to Texas schools, are screened for vision and hearing as required by the State of Texas.
Fifth graders are screened for abnormal spinal curvature.
Vision and hearing screening will be done on any student who may be suspected of vision or hearing loss by a classroom teacher or parent.

Medications sent to school with a child must have a note from a parent giving the Nurse permission to administer the medication.
All medications must be in the original container having a label with the doctor's name. The medication must not be older than the expiration date. No single pills will be accepted in a baggie or other container different from the original container it came in.
Over-the-counter medications must be the appropriate dose for the age of the child. Non-prescription medication will be administered without a prescription for a maximum time of two weeks.
The school cannot allow the child to bring home leftover medication. Medication not picked up by a parent will be destroyed.
