DOERRE CHOIR STANDARDS

Be responsible. Keep your parents informed of all choir activities. You are expected to attend and participate in all scheduled rehearsals and performances unless specific, prior arrangements are made with your director. These scheduled events are a portion of your grade.

Take care of your music, uniform, and your commitments. If you damage or lose your music, you will pay a fee. Music is normally $1.50. Cumberbuns are $9.00. Ties are $6.00.

Be on time, prepared to go to work when the bell rings. All students must be in their seat with all supplies before the tardy bell rings. If not, the student will receive a tardy.

Do not leave the room after entering. You may not return to your locker for "forgotten" supplies. Use the time you have between classes to visit the restroom and get a drink of water. In an emergency, ask for permission privately to go to the restroom or the nurse.

Be courteous to each other at all times. Show respect and you will receive respect. “Shut up” is not allowed in the classroom.

Stay academically eligible. All we do in rehearsals takes place in performance. If you are ineligible, you cannot perform at most contests. You cannot go on any trips. You will be assigned an alternative assignment if you miss a scheduled performance. A concert is a major grade.

Maintain orderly behavior and self-discipline at all times. Choir students are expected to be on their best behavior at all times.

Do not leave your seat without permission unless to get a Kleenex.

You may not have food, drinks, candy or gum in the choir room at any time - only bottled water!!

You will be expected to practice at least 15 minutes a night on your choir music or other homework. You can study your music theory notes, practice sightsinging and handsignals or sing your music. You must practice with your cassette or CD before each competition. Students will need a tape recorder/CD player for their room.

Use correct singing posture at all times, whether sitting or standing while you're singing.

You may mark your music IN PENCIL ONLY. You will be given instructions on how to mark your music during rehearsals. Write your name on each piece of music in the top, right corner.

Students are responsible for obtaining their make up work from the teacher. Please inform your teacher upon returning and ask what work you have missed. It is not the teacher’s responsibility to remind you to ask.

Try to leave your "problems and social needs" at the door. We need your full attention in order to make music. If you are having a "down day", throw yourself into the music and sing away those blues!

Take care of yourself. Practice good health and hygiene habits. Take care of your voice. NEVER SCREAM!!!! Drink lots of water!!!!

Students must remain in full uniform while on the bus or in public. Be proud of yourself, your school and your choir!!
