8th grade awards May 22, 2013 6:00 p.m. at Klein High School

8th grade students who are nominated for an award will be notified with a letter send home.

6 & 7th grade awards May 23, 2013 9:15 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. Doerre Cafeteria

HOW TO VERIFY HONOR ROLL LISTS & PERFECT ATTENDANCE
(Pay close attention on May 6th and check accuracy for the end-of-year awards ceremony.) The lists will be posted in the display cases by the cafeteria.

All grade level honor roll and perfect attendance lists will be posted in the display cases by the cafeteria entrance from the main hall on as of the first Monday in May to verify the lists for the end of year awards ceremonies. (Each six weeks, lists will be posted on the counselors’ bulletin board.) It is the student’s responsibility to verify the accuracy of these reports and report any errors or omissions. We want all the students who have earned an award to get the public affirmation they deserve at the end-of-year awards ceremony. If the student sees an error/omission on the final all year list, s/he needs to fill out a purple sheet at lunch and bring it, with a copy of your latest report card to the A.P. office. Students may also inquire with their grade level principal. For inquiries about your attendance record, see the attendance officer in the attendance office. We will honor a student’s report card from another school. If a student attended another campus (even in Klein), it is likely that student will not appear on the computer generated list. Students who have spent time at another campus must bring their report card(s) from that campus, with the purple form, to the AP office. If there is an NG for “no grade”, your name may be omitted as well. “NG” may occur if a student transfers from another campus or is home bound. Again, it is the student’s responsibility to verify the accuracy of these reports and report any errors or omissions.

Don’t forget:

•A/B honor roll only allows 2 Bs. More than 2 Bs does not qualify.
•You may lose perfect attendance if you are absent any time after the list is generated. The attendance officer keeps track daily until the last day!
•Pre-AP, GT and Honors courses do “bump-up” to the next higher grade for Bs and Cs only. This does not include any course other than core classes.
•According the student handbook on page 13, Honors, Pre-AP and GT, Bs move to As and Cs to Bs. Ds are not bumped.

Let us know if you feel there is an error or omission right away. Tell your counselor or AP immediately. We will be reminding students daily on the morning announcements, lunch announcements, lunch slide show and website.

Students: Do not count on a computer generated list. Double check this list with your own eyes. No one makes a better advocate for you, than YOU!

Marking Period (Course Grade)

- A = 90 – 100
- B = 80 – 89
- C = 75 – 79
- D = 70 – 74
- F = 50 – 69

Vaccination Requirements

Attention parents of 6th graders:
Has your student had the vaccinations that are required in order for them to start 7th grade? If the Doerre clinic does not have record of these, your child will not be allowed to receive his/her schedule or start class the first day of school next fall per Texas state law! In order to assist our parents and student with this important health matter, the Doerre Clinic will have a low cost vaccination clinic this Thursday, May 9th from 4-6pm in the Doerre Activity Room. Shots will be offered for $14 for one, $20 for two and $25 for three. Cash(preferred) or checks are accepted, made payable to "Vax-a-nation" .

A parent or other responsible adult must be present with your student to provide written consent for the shots.

Child Custody

Please assist us in the handling of custody related issues. It is the responsibility of the parents to provide the principal a certified copy of the court order affecting any other person's right to their children. Should you have any questions please call Cissy Saccomanno, Principal, at 832-249-5700.

Parent Link

Parents and Guardians

The Parent Link automated calling system will initiate a phone call to the parent or guardian’s “primary” phone on file for any student reported absent. Calls will be made each school day by 1:30 p.m. Therefore, the parent or guardian should call Doerre’s Attendance office at 832-249-5676 by 12:30 p.m. to report the absence. Please leave your message with name of child, their grade and reason for absence and who is making the call. REMINDER: even though these calls are initiated to the primary call number, this does not excuse the student’s absence. The parent or guardian is responsible for following up with a note, medical excuse or phone call within 5 days of absence.

If absences are not verified within the allotted time, they will be subject to the districts ‘denial of credit’ policy per class. Three (3) or more absence not verified in a 10 day period are considered ‘unexcused’ and therefore parents or guardians will be sent letters from the District Attorneys Office regarding the student’s excessive absences.

Note: If you need to up-date your primary phone at anytime during the school year, please contact Judy Mirabal (Doerre’s Registrar) at jmirabal1@kleinisd.net or call (832) 249-5687. If you have any questions feel free to contact the attendance office.
