Wow, have we had an interesting “beginning of the year” for Texas!
The good news is that we are still pretty much on target with our
teaching schedule. The following is an overview of the week:
Math- All students seemed to fair well on the multiplication test Friday. We are moving on to Division and Multiplication concepts combined (Topic 4 and 5) this week. We will be discussing the relationship of these two operations and practicing our rounding skills to help us estimate. As you know, all students need to be “quick and correct” with their multiplication facts to 12 x 12. Please practice nightly at home. We will have a topic 4 and 5 EXAM on Friday of this week.
In science, we will be finishing our “Introduction” with a lab safety and skills test on Thursday. The skills, of measuring, reading a thermometer, and making observations will be practiced this week in class. I will give your student a vocabulary list to study also.
Technology will begin with practice on learning.com. Please have your child work on this website at home also. They will build valuable skills that are going to be used in the classroom.
