At this time students should have all of their supplies with them each day. We are taking notes and writing every day. I still have a handful of students who do not have loose leaf paper and black pens. Please remember the box of kleenex too.
Homework has begun in earnest with the archetypal paper and studying for the archetype test 9/8/10.

This Wednesday (9/1/10) students will take a small archetype quiz to check for comprehension and to encourage them to committ the archetypes to memory. This will be a matching and definition quiz.

Supplies are now due in the classroom. Most students have been diigent in bringing everything to class; some are still gathering material. They need to have all of their supplies in class in order to be successful.

Please be patient as we begin this school year. We are experiencing a lot of changes, but we will slowly get everything in place. I enjoyed meeting all of my students today, and I am looking forward to this transition year.
The calendar for this six weeks will be ready this week. I will post it on the download page as soon as it is available.
We will begin the study of archetypes Tuesday, August 24. Students must memorize all the archetypes and be prepared to take a test over them in a couple of weeks. I will pass out the archetype packet on Tuesday, August 24. It is important that your son or daughter spend some time on English every night. It is easier to spend 20 minutes a night than to cram for tests at the last minute. I know this isn't their only class and that many of my students are taking several pre-AP classes plus all their extra-curricular activities. If they can establish a routine and initiate some good study habits, they will have a more successful year.
