SCIENCE LAB SAFETY
All students are required to successfully complete a safety test which covers safety rules, emergency response/first aid, symbols from the textbook and how to read & interpret MSDS,
material safety data sheet. Upon completion the student will sign a safety contract & acquire a parent/guardian signature to acknowledge the importance of a safe environment for all
students. Safety will be taught, emphasized throughout the year, written into lab reports, and tested after each lab.

Consequences for unsafe practice:
The students will be given an alternative assignment if they fail to display safe practices & parents will be contacted. For example: no student will be allowed to participate in a lab if they are wearing open-toed shoes but the student will be pulled away from the activity and required to complete an alternative assignment.
A student may be quickly dismissed to the principal's office for a severe safety offense & suspended from lab settings for a period of time.
For lesser safety offenses, students may be required to serve time in ISS.

For safety instruction go to www.flinnsci.com
and then click on safety.
