WELCOME BACK
The 2008-09 school year is here. Here are a few tips to help you and your child transition into the new school year:

Attend your child's school "Open House" and all PTO meetings. Join the PTO.

Make time to get to know your child's teachers, and communicate with them regularly.

Set aside a place for your child to do homework and study.

Establish routines for getting ready in the morning and for homework/studying at night.

Create high expectations for your child and school, and be encouraging to both.

Get involved and stay involved at your child's school using whatever gifts or talents you have. Every parent has something to offer his child's school. Successful schools have high parent and community involvement and children love having their parents visible at their school.
Meet Your Teacher
Hi! I'm Bettina Harris and I teach 4th grade Math and Science. This is my third year at Klenk Elementary School. I am very passionate about the subjects I teach and I want my students to exhibit that same passion for learning. I endeavor to teach in a way that shows students how the information they learn will help them in the "real world."

I am originally from Mississippi. I am a graduate of Jackson State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I relocated to Texas in 2004 and taught 7th grade Language Arts for one year before returning to the elementary level to teach 3rd grade. I am certainly looking forward to working with each and everyone of you here at Klenk Elementary throughout the year to have a very productive and successful year!

We've got quite an adventure ahead of us for this year! We will be busy preparing our minds to "Soar to New Heights". Expectations will be very high but attainable throughout the year. Students should be prepared and willing to work hard to be the best and to achieve nothing less than success. Again, thanks for being a part of my class and I look forward to working with each and every one of you!
