2013-2014 Kindergarten Enrollment
We are currently accepting enrollment for next year’s Kindergarten class. Please come in to the office between 8 – 3:30 Monday thru Friday, to register your student for next year. Parents will need to bring the following items to enroll their student:
Students original Birth Certificate
Current Immunizations records
Proof of Residence: Current utility bill: Light, Gas or Water or Lease Agreement
Social Security Card (optional)
Parent’s ID

Call for Appointment
Pre-K Round-up at Benfer Elementary will be on August 8, 2013. Parents must call to make an appointment to see if their student qualifies for Pre-K. Call the Registrar at 832-484-5939 for an appointment.

Pre Kindergarten Registration
Age Requirements:
Pre-kindergarten – A child must be 4 years old on or before September 1st of the current school year
Pre-kindergarten Eligibility Requirements:
A child who is 4 years old on or before September 1st of the current school year may attend our half-day Pre-kindergarten program if they meet at least one of the following criteria:
• Unable to speak or comprehend the English language as determined by a test administration • Is Educationally Disadvantaged based on income documentation • Has a parent who is Active in the Military (must show documentation of such) • Is Homeless (must fill out documentation forms)

Dismissal Time and Changes to Transportation
Students are dismissed from school at 3:15 p.m. Changes to transportation must be made in writing and sent to the office. Changes to transportation will not be made after 2:00 p.m. daily. Map
Arrival Time and Tardies:
Regular attendance is critical for student success in school. Students may arrive no earlierthan 7:45 a.m. when staff members are available to supervise children. Students enter through the cafeteria. The school day begins at 8:15 a.m. The tardy bell rings at 8:20 a.m.A student will be marked tardy if he is not in his room or mod area and seated when the tardy bell rings. Students who are tardy 3 times will receive a note from the office.On the 4th tardy the general conduct grade will be reduced a letter.On the 9th tardy and every tardy after that, the student will serve after school detention.
Benfer teachers welcome students into class at 8:00 a.m. Teachers use this time before school to provide extra help for struggling students and enrichment for others. If you need to visit with a teacher, please schedule a conference by calling 832-484-6000.Teachers are working with students during the school day and can not be interrupted.
