Kelly Hammons- Reading Specialist |
khammons@kleinisd.net
Reading rocks! My name is Kelly Hammons and I adore reading. As a child, I was an avid reader. I always imagined myself in the stories I read. I think that is what naturally drew me to become a teacher. I have been teaching for 14 years. This is my second year as the reading specialist at Benignus. I enjoy working with small groups to foster and develop reading skills. I love my job!
My family grew a little over the summer. We had a beautiful addition to our family: Miss Mallory Elizabeth Ann was born the last day in May. She came early, just so we could have more time with her. Her brother, Walker, is a loving and doting big brother. He is paving the way for his little sister already- showing her how to “read” and reading to her. My husband and I are enjoying our growing family. We think Wind Rose is the perfect area to raise a family and plan to stay for a long while.
I hope to be a valuable resource for students, teachers, staff, and of course, parents. | | |

Cheryl Payne- ESL |
cpayne1@kleinisd.net
Hi! My name is Cheryl Payne and I’m very excited to be part of the team here at Benignus! After growing up in Cy-Fair school district, I received my bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University in 2001 and have spent the last 4 years working with children in Houston ISD. My experience in HISD includes working with children in all grade levels from kindergarten through fifth grade as a substitute teacher at different schools in the district. The main school in which I made my home was Ed White Elementary, a Title I Exemplary school! I was a long term substitute teacher in 1st and 4th grades at Ed White and I also worked with at-risk children in small groups for reading, math, and writing intervention. In August of 2006, I got married and became the third grade ESL teacher on my campus where I continued to teach 3rd grade for two years until my husband and I relocated to the Spring/Woodlands area. I love to travel to experience different cultures, people, and places. So far, my husband and I have been to various places in Mexico, Italy, England, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, and France. I have also traveled to Jordan and Belgium! I love helping children learn and look forward to working with the wonderful ESL students at Benignus!
