Our Benignus Leopards will love the library! Not only will it be a beautiful and fun place to visit, but we will have fabulous new books to support classroom learning and personal enjoyment! My goal is to both support the curriculum and encourage a life-long love of reading. Students, parents, and teachers, as well as community members, will always be welcome to visit and check out books in the Benignus library. We will have story time, learn about using the library and online resources, and will learn about new and favorite authors and books. The classroom TEKS will be immersed into the library lessons, and the library books were chosen with each grade level's TEKS in mind.

It is a joy to be back in Klein ISD and to be teaching so close to home. I have lived in WindRose since 1998, and even chose to buy my second home here because we loved the community so much. My son, Samuel, was born in November 2003, and it will be so much fun to teach him in the library at Benignus when he finally gets to "big kid school." I am married to Jason Hollier, who helps manage his family's business, LaBoucherie. You can find their turduckens and other specialty Cajun food in the frozen section at your local Kroger store or at their store on FM 1960!

I am originally from Abbeville, Louisiana and went to college at the University of Southwestern Louisiana, now called the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. My whole life I knew I wanted to be a teacher, so I really loved my college experience there in the field of Elementary Education. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, and went straight into graduate school and earned my Master's Degree in Education of the Gifted and Kindergarten Certification. (I stayed focused and received my first and second degree black belts while studying TaeKwonDo at the university, and was also president of my sorority, Sigma Sigma Sigma.) I got married and moved to Houston early in 1997 and soon began my full-time teaching career.

I happily worked at Schultz Elementary in Klein ISD teaching second grade for five years, starting in August of 1997. I got my Library Science Endorsement from Sam Houston State University in 2002 and began working as a librarian at Wilkerson Intermediate School in The Woodlands, with Conroe ISD. I was there for one year, and I really missed teaching younger children, so I was thrilled to get to work as a librarian at Powell Elementary, also in The Woodlands. I really loved working at Powell for the past three years and truly miss the students and community there, but I wanted to work closer to home. I am very excited to now be working with my own community and can’t wait to teach all of the children of my friends and neighbors here.

We will have so many awesome books that the kids will be itching to get their hands on! Parents, please come on down to see our library, and feel free to browse or check out more books for your children at any time! We’re going to have so much fun READING!
