Education

Bachelor’s of Science from Sam Houston Sate University in Elementary Education – 1982
Master’s in Education from Sam Houston State University – 1992
Mid-Management Certificate – 1992

I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. I attended the Houston Independent School District. After completing my education degree from Sam Houston State University, I began my teaching career in the Spring Branch School District as a substitute teacher. The following year, I moved to Center, Texas and took a position there first as a kindergarten teacher, then as a fifth grade teacher while also serving as the high school drill team director. Upon moving back to my hometown of Houston, I began teaching in the Spring Independent School District as a second grade teacher for two years and a fourth grade teacher for three years. I was very fortunate to move to the Klein Independent School District in 1989. At that time, I taught second grade at Haude Elementary. The following year I had my second child and took some time off. I did return later that year to teach third grade. The next year I taught fifth grade at Haude. Then in 1992, I became the assistant principal at Haude. I served in that position for ten years. They were all wonderful experiences providing me with an opportunity to work with various grade levels.

I was very fortunate to have served as the principal of Roth Elementary for 3 ˝ years. I moved over to the Klein Instructional Center in January to begin planning for Benignus. An elementary school is a focal point in a community, and my goal is to work with the students, teachers, and parents with the utmost integrity. The elementary years are extremely important in a child’s development. Knowledge and social skills are formed at this young age, and it is our responsibility to be excellent teachers and role models for children. Memories are made during this time that will be valuable for a lifetime.

I invite parents and community members to volunteer or just come by Benignus to see the outstanding group of educators serving your children. I know you will feel the sense of warmth and determination displayed by everyone on our staff to develop our Benignus Leopards into successful, happy, loving people.

Bachelor of Arts from Texas A&M University in English and Spanish
Master of Education from Sam Houston State University in Administration

I am thrilled to be part of the Benignus family! My career in education began overseas in Central Asia, where I fell in love with serving students and sharing my passion for learning with others. Upon returning to the States, I happily continued my teaching career at Klein Collins High School, where I was honored as the campus Teacher of the Year and Harris County Teacher of the Month. In 2007, I became an assistant principal at Klein Collins, where I enjoyed serving as an instructional leader focused on maximizing student success. In my new role at Benignus, I am happy to bring enthusiasm, dedication, and a passion for serving students and staff members to this exemplary elementary school!

When off-campus, I love spending time with my incredible husband, Brian, and precious son, Joshua (twenty months old). I also enjoy traveling, reading for pleasure, and spending time with my extended family and dear friends.

I am committed to your child's success, and I look forward to an incredible year!

Bachelor of Science from Sam Houston State University in Health Education – 2000
Master’s in Educational Administration from Prairie View A&M University - 2006

I am excited to start my third year as an administrator at Benignus. I moved into the Klein district when I was very young. I went to Brill Elementary, Kleb Intermediate, and graduated from Klein High. After graduating from Sam Houston State, I was ecstatic to be hired by Klein. It was like coming home. I have taught various grades at Roth Elementary from August 2000 to May 2006, I have coached the JV girl’s soccer team at Klein High School from 2003-2007, and from August 2006 – May 2007 I taught 5th grade at Benignus.

I married my high school sweetheart. We have two beautiful girls, Courtney a sophomore at Klein Oak and Addison an 8th grader at Krimmel. I love the outdoors and sports. After school and on weekends you’ll usually find me chauffeuring one or both of my girls to one of their many activities.

I’m looking forward to a fantastic school year!
