I grew up and went to school in Tomball, Texas so I have lived around the Klein area for many years. I attended the University of Texas after high school, where I received my teaching degree. After college I taught third grade for one year in Manor, Texas at Manor Elementary School. After that I returned to Houston to teach third grade for 5 years at Aldine Academy in Aldine I.S.D. This will be my second year to teach in Klein at Benignus Elementary and my second year in a fifth grade classroom. I love the Houston Astros and UT Football (Hook ‘em Horns!). I am really excited to be teaching Math and Science again at Benignus Elementary and I am looking forward to a great year in the 5th grade!

I was born in Houston, Texas in 1981. I grew up in Sugar Land, Texas. I left home after high school to attend college at Texas A&M University! Fightin’ Texas Aggie class of 2004…Whoop! While in college, I ran into an old flame who is now my husband, Kent. We were married in 2004 and were blessed with a beautiful baby boy in 2006 named Michael Kent Coopwood, III. We call him “Trey.”
Besides being a mom, I am also a tri-athlete. I have completed 3 sprint triathlons since 2007! Other things I enjoy are sandy beaches, fishing/ranching with my in-laws, swimming/floating in the Texas lakes and rivers, interior design, shopping, shoes, dark chocolate and family traditions.
My teaching career began in Bryan ISD where I taught 5th grade English Language Arts for 2 years. My husband accepted a job after college in the north Houston area which brings us here to Klein. I couldn’t be happier to be back “home” and at Benignus doing what I love! I’m thrilled to be starting my 4th year of teaching 5th grade ELA and social studies here at Benignus. Go Leopards!!

I was born in New Orleans, but consider myself a Texan because I have lived here since I was two years old. Being a product of the Klein School District, I had a very successful career at Texas Tech University (Get your Guns Up!) While I was in college I met my husband J Don and we just celebrated our first anniversary this summer. Because of the excellent teachers I had in Klein, I chose education as my career path. I am passionate about teaching, as were all of my teachers at Erhardt, Mittelstadt, Kleb, and Klein High School.
I am thrilled to be a member of the faculty at Benignus. I will be teaching 5th grade ELA and Social Studies, teaming with Roi-Ann Kidd.

A native Texan and descendent of the second governor of Texas, I grew up in Houston and have lived in this general area all my life. We built here in Windrose 9 years ago and this is my 8th year teaching in the Klein district. Starting at Roth Elementary, I moved over to Benignus when it opened and have felt privileged to be a part of this wonderful school since its beginning. I attended Texas Tech and Sam Houston State universities, minoring in biology and am teaching math and science. This year I am partnering with wonderful Mrs. Kimberly Coopwood who teaches language arts and social studies. I am very happily married and have 4 amazing children. My twin son and daughter are now 32, I have a 17 year old daughter who is a senior at Oak and an 11 year old son starting at Krimmel. The smallest member of the family is our Cocker Spaniel, Winston who brings extra cheer into our home. I enjoy reading, running, swimming, being outside in the sunshine, eating health food (with the exception of dark chocolate!), and great music. I am looking forward to an exciting year in 5th grade!

Howdy! My name is Roi-Ann Kidd and I will be teaming with Samantha Hinson. I will be teaching math and science. I have been at Benignus since the school opened. This will be my 18th year teaching.
My wonderful husband, Trey, and I have been married for 17 years. We have a beautiful 13 year old daughter, Jensen. We have 2 dogs, Belle and Cooper, and 2 cats, Hannah and Rocky.
I love to hunt, fish, watch Jensen participate in her activities, spend time with family and friends, and watch Aggie football! Whoop!
I love teaching and the fact that each day holds something new. I look forward to another fantastic year at Benignus Elementary!

This year will be my 12th year of teaching and my 4th year as a 5th grade teacher here at Benignus. I have taught 3rd grade at Krahn Elementary for 4 years and 4th grade in Tomball for 4 years. I teach Language Arts and Social Studies along side my teaching partner, Mr. Bain.
I was born in Arkansas, but I have lived here in Klein since 1982. I am a product of Theiss Elementary, Doerre Intermediate, and Klein High School. I pursued my teaching dream with a degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in reading and a minor in English from Stephen F. Austin State University. Go Lumberjacks!
I have been married to my childhood sweetheart (we met in 3rd grade), Matt, for 11 years and we have 3 beautiful children. Madison is 9, Mallory is 5, and Mitchell is 2 and we call them our M&Ms. We also have a dog named Rosie. This year I will also become an aunt for the first time. I can't wait to see if it will be a niece or a nephew I will be welcoming.
I look forward to another year at Benignus and getting to know all the great 5th grade Leopards!
