Melanie Thomson
I began my teaching career in Rochester, MN where I taught for two years. I then followed my husband to Houston and taught one year in Cy-Fair ISD. The following year, 1998, I found my home with the Wunderlich Orchestra. The orchestra has since grown from 97 students to 200, has moved to the beautiful new Fine Arts wing, and gained Jenny Gann, a great addition to the faculty. The Wunderlich Orchestras have won the UIL Sweepstakes Award nearly every year. We have attended the Galveston Isle Orchestra Festival annually, winning the Superior rating nearly every year, Best in Class for Full Orchestra three years, and Best Overall Orchestra once. The Wunderlich Orchestra consistently sends about 10 students to the prestigious Region Orchestra each year. Nearly 100 students represent Wunderlich at the Solo and Ensemble contest every spring, many of whom earn ratings of Excellent. I am very proud to be a part of this organization.

I first attended Southern Methodist University on a full scholarship, then graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Violin Performance and Music Education.

My husband James and I have two daughters and live in the Cy-Fair area. I enjoy doing Tae Kwon Do, and my favorite pastime is spending time with my family.
